A few years I had no opportunity to get M42 on my chip. This winter I got it. And this is my first image I processed with PixInsight. Imaged with my 12″ f/4 Newtonian and the Moravian G2-8300 CCD Camera.
Here are the exposure data for the astrophotographers:
LRGB=40:40:40:40 minutes, Subframes 5 minutes for the nebula
LRGB=10:10:10:10 minutes, Subframes 20 seconds fot the core
LRGB=1:1:1 minutes, Subframes 5 seconds for the core
HA OIII HB = 150:120:140 minutes, Subframes 10 minutes
M42 is APOD today.
